The younger kiddos, of course, do not remember 9/11. Jared has had a lot of curiosity because he hears so much but has no personal memories. He decided to do his research project on that event. We went to the library yesterday and got a book about it that came with a DVD of all the newscasts from that day. They are watching now. Very interesting to listen to them - it's their 1st time to see it all, and so the impact is large and fresh. Very interesting.

It was definitely a sobering day from many perspectives. I remember watching people in our congregation weeping during the prayer service we had that evening. I asked one if they knew someone who died. The answer was no, but the grief was for those who died not having known salvation in Jesus. The world changed that day. I am hoping for such a monumental change to occur when we Christians get busy and really do our job.

Recently Ariana was writing dates on a new calendar she was making. She asked what Patriot Day was. I choked up over thinking about 9/11 and all the memories came flooding back. I was a little surprised at the intensity of emotion I still felt at the reminder. I tried to downplay it for her, since she is only seven. I'm sorry for all the young ones who witnessed all that on the news over and over and over. It was hard enough to grasp as an adult....
